Bailey Coppedge '15 Recruiting Profile

As a goalkeeper, my commitment is to lead my team to a National Championship.  I am a different kind of player - one that has been exposed to numerous game situations (physical and mental) due to my year-round participation in athletics, meaning - I am not afraid of a hit, I can battle back when the pressure is on, I know my role, and I support and lead my teammates so we can all get better.  What also sets me apart from other GKs is my work ethic.  To keep my overall soccer game as competitive as possible, I analyze other GKs during games, run with my younger brother who competes in cross country and half marathons, lift weights, and spar. To keep me grounded and appreciative, I volunteer at a local soup kitchen.  I have attended numerous camps to better familiarize myself with the collegiate level of play and to continually improve my game. To date, I have attended (or will attend):

June 2013: FASA Elite Impact College Camp, trained with coaches from Winthrop, Youngstown, University of Richmond, Marshall, Messiah, and Virginia Wesleyan, and played 2 scrimmage games at the University of Virginia (vs their camp recruits and another club team).

About me...I participate in 3 varsity sports at my high school: basketball, softball, and soccer, and I am a brown belt in PaSaRyu Martial Arts.  I am the starting Varsity goalkeeper and a Captain (Region GK of the Year and .910 SV% in 2012, Best of the Preps and .885 SV% in 2013), I won the 6th Man Award on the Varsity basketball team my freshman year and Clutch Defender Award in 10th grade, and I am a starting UT player on my softball team (All Region Team 2014, hit a grand slam against local rival, Region Champions, won the team Eagle Award for my work ethic, teamwork, and attitude). I attended Dynasty Goalkeeping Academy in summer 2013 and 2014.  I also play competitive club sports and completed the Germantown Half Marathon twice - my March, 2013 time was 2 hr and 6 min.  I challenge myself and strive to get better at something every day.  As a multi-sport athlete, I have the benefit of constantly being pushed - mentally, physically, and academically.  I thrive on those challenges as they continue to develop me as a person and athlete, as well as prepare me for collegiate play.  To the best of my knowledge, I am the only 11th grade female Iron Eagle Scholar-Athlete at St. Benedict (3 sports and high academics).  

Based on my SAT scores from the Duke Tip Test taken in 7th grade, I was accepted to Vanderbilt Summer Academy (VSA) for Talented and Gifted Youth. I attended VSA for 1 week the summer before 8th grade, and 2 weeks the summer before 9th grade. My focus class for both sessions was novel writing. In 10th grade I took Honors Chemistry, AP World History, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Spanish 3 (to the best of my knowledge only two other sophomores enrolled in this class), ranked in the top 10% of my class with a 4.3 GPA, and was invited to apply to TN Governor's School for summer 2013 and summer 2014. In 11th grade, I carried a 4.6 GPA while taking AP US History, AP Lang, Honors Pre-Cal, and Physics (senior level class).  I am a member of: National Honors Society, Student Ambassadors, Mu Alpha Theta, Newspaper Staff, Newspaper Staff Editor in Chief, and Honor Council.  I was chosen to be the newspaper editor for the 2014-2015 school year.  I have been a 3-sport Varsity scholar-athlete for 3 years.  I started my own company with my mom in 2014.
