Personal Statement
From a young age, I have always had a love for physical activities. I began my sporting career as a dancer, but quickly lost interest when I realized that what I really wanted was to be part of a team, outdoors, and running. At 6, I randomly chose to play soccer, but soon realized that it was everything that I had ever wanted in a sport.
As I have grown in the sport, I also have grown as a person. I found my place on my current team nine years ago, and through my experiences there I have learned of the many qualities required of a successful soccer player, not to mention a successful team. This year, my teammates and I achieved one of our greatest feats by getting second place at our South Texas State Cup. Our previous visits to the tournament had resulted in a third or fourth place spot. Those experiences of loss and disappointment pushed me to better my skills as an outside midfielder through discipline, leadership, and a vigorous amount of hard work year after year. I have always been a key starter on my club and high school teams, and in most games, I play the full ninety minutes. I have been described as coachable, determined, and passionate by my coaches, and they rely on me to take most set pieces in games. My shots are very accurate both in free kicks and at distance and I am talented at feeding through balls and crosses to my attacking players.
I have kept an A/B average in my high school classes and hope to enroll in a college that will challenge me both physically and academically. I believe that my personality and work ethic would be valuable to any coach’s collegiate team, and my excitement to play and learn new things would make a great addition to any squad.
