Personal Statement
3,600 hours. That is the approximate amount of time that I have spent COMMUTING back and forth to soccer for scheduled practices twice a week and a game on the weekend for the last nine years. My long commute has taught me DEDICATION and perseverance, among many other things such as time management, focus, and problem-solving.
Hello, my name is Laney Haley.
I live in the tiny town of Saint Jo, Texas (population 1,018) and I am currently a Sophomore at a small Catholic private school, in Muenster, Texas. I am very dedicated to the sport I love. In order to play soccer at the ECNL level, I drive over 3 hours to practice and back at least twice a week, sometimes more.
My love for the sport has developed progressively over the years. When I started playing soccer, my older sister also played, and out of convenience for my parents, they put me on her team. My soccer career started playing with kids two years my senior, which made me a stronger player from the very kick-off (pun intended ;). I am a very powerful, hardworking, and coachable athlete.
Currently, I play center defender. I am predominately a right-footed player, but I am equally good with my left foot. I control the ball well and have precession passes, I can place the ball exactly where I intend to. I love being part of a team, and working together for an end goal. (Pun intended ;)
Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my family & friends, and I love hunting and fishing. I am a great student and take pride in my grades. I have been on the Principal's Honor roll every quarter of my High School career, and I have a 4.0 GPA. I look forward to being part of a team in college and also to all of the opportunities that it will bring for me as a student-athlete.
