I was 6, when I first stepped on a soccer field. I absolutely enjoyed playing and quickly came to realize that it was something I wanted to do throughout my life. I’ve continued to play at varying levels and, as a high school freshmen, am intrigued by what comes next. The prospect of playing soccer at a collegiate level is an exciting and adventurous goal but I know it poses unique challenges. As a fan of the beautiful game, I am prepared to put in the effort to overcome those challenges.
I’ve been told by several coaches that I have a good vision of the field and good ball control. I communicate well on and off the ball and, on my club team, I run the back line despite my comparable youth and small stature. I believe I am very coachable and I always work hard to apply instructions and critiques. I know my game has a long way to go, but I am confident that I am on a good path to success at the next level.
Academic success is my primary focus and I am a dedicated A student. I apply myself in the classroom, in extracurricular activities like band and NJHS and I am a leader amongst my peers. Additionally, I volunteer with my soccer club as a mentor and assistant with our kinders and recreational and development teams.
Getting a degree in my preferred field of study is of the utmost importance to me. If I can find a school where that goal and my desire to continue playing soccer at a competitive level are aligned, I know I’ll be successful. In the end, I want to make my family and myself proud in whatever path I take. I only hope that my education and my passion go hand in hand in that endeavor.
