I played recreational soccer until sixth grade when one of the Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) travel coaches suggested I try out for their 2003 girls travel team. On my first tryout, I was selected for our Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) 03/14U Girls team. I worked hard to develop my technical skills, speed, endurance and physical level of play. I developed the ability to kick with both my dominant right foot and my left foot. As a midfield attacker, I scored several goals well outside the box using both feet.
In my second year, I was selected for our premier Club Champions League (CCL II) 03/15U Girls team. I proved myself a team player and a team leader. I established a reputation as a strong defender playing midfield or outer back. My speed and ball handling skills allowed me to stop attacks and move the ball out of scoring range so our attackers could take control. During this year, the Director of Recreation and Player Development Coach recognized my leadership skills and selected me as the youngest coaches assistant to work with other travel players to develop our youngest players.
In my first year of freshman high school, I was selected as a defensive starter on our JV Girls Soccer Team. My coach credited me with stopping numerous attacks before they could get past midfield or cross the ball from the outside. I enjoy playing competitive soccer with both my teams and believe I will be a strong contributor to the right college team.
Outside of soccer, I have a brown belt in Tai Kwon Do and I enjoy singing and performing with my high school music department where I sing as a soprano 2 for our club, "Viva Voce." I have a small circle of friends who share the same goals as me so I stay focused on academics and sports. I’ve studied two years of Japanese and speak Spanish. I’m a go-to player on and off the field who is dependable and delivers on my commitments and my responsibilities.
