My name is Charlie Balderrama and I am a 17 year old Goal Keeper who loves soccer and dreams of playing in college. I am determined in everything I do, not only on the field, but in my everyday life too. I have always been drawn to the Visual Arts and have a scholarship to my current High school for Art. I play club soccer for Virginia Union FC 06/05 ECNL (McLean). I also play for my High school team and have also had the amazing experience of playing internationally for the Dutch soccer school.
I've been playing soccer since I was 3 years old, but over time I found and stuck to my position as a goalkeeper. I have grown in my position and become very skilled and improved tremendously. Ever since I started my high school soccer career as well, I became strong, confident, and a key player on the field. This year our team made it to the semi finals in the WCAC Tournament. My overall record for my High school soccer team, as a sophomore, goals scored on me is only a whopping 3. My reaction saves, coming out on one-on-ones, and aggressiveness in the box, really help me in my career as a keeper. While I have a great defense line, my voice and strong communication helped us to really improve our back line.
My parents both work very hard as a market researcher and a software engineer. I learn so much from them in dedication, determination, and to never give up. I aspire to play in college not only to compete at the highest level of play, but to grow as a person, player, and as a leader. It would be such a great opportunity to be apart of your team!
