Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Kylee Denny. I have played soccer for basically my whole life, so being able to continue to play soccer after high school has been a dream of mine growing up. Throughout my years of playing, I learned how to play every position on the field to play wherever is best for my team. I have always been very passionate about soccer, and my love for the sport has kept me going for all the years of playing.  I've been a starter playing a center midfielder on my school's varsity team since 8th grade. Additionally, I had the honor of being captain my junior and again my senior year. I started playing club soccer about two years ago and have also been a starter playing center back since I joined the club.

Being a student-athlete hasn't always been easy, I'm sure any athlete can agree with that. Fortunately, I got lucky and have an excellent support system that has helped me keep improving not only as an athlete but also as a person. Coming from a home-schooled background, I was able to gain valuable skills such as self-motivation, time management, and many other life skills. Not only am I a Junior in high school, but also enrolled in college and on track to graduate with my general AA and high school diploma at the same time. These experiences shape who I am today, further strengthening my commitment to both academic and athlete achievements.

Soccer isn't just a sport to me; it's my outlet. I aim to make a difference on whatever team I join, striving for more than just being another player. I want to be an inspiration to those around me, someone that people look up to or seek advice from. I am hardworking on and off the field. I am coachable. I am a leader with or without a title. And most of all, I strive to always make my family proud. So, what does playing collegiate soccer mean to me? It means I'll finally reach the thing I have been working towards my whole life. I'm so excited to work harder and harder every day to make sure that it will happen.
