Personal Statement
My athletic goals are to continue to swim in college at a competitive level. I hope to participate in meets, and qualify for championships. I have been swimming for 12 years, and I have become more passionate about it ever since, and I'm very excited to potentially get the chance to continue! My academic goals are to study Biochemistry, and hopefully obtain a doctorate degree. I feel like I am a good candidate for this team because I am determined and goal-orientated. I take training very seriously, and I do all I can to make myself better each day in practice. I am very focused on my technique and my racing strategies. After each race, I celebrate what went well, and analyze what I could do better, and usually I am aware of what I need to work on. Then, in the training weeks between meets, I am constantly practicing the things I need to work on from my previous performance, as well as expanding my weakest areas. I feel I am different from other recruits in character because I am involved in community service, and I am extremely hard working and detail-oriented. I am also very considerate of other people's opinions and backgrounds, and interested in expanding my horizons and exploring new cultures. I am different from other recruits in the academic field because learning absolutely fascinates me. Even though I am taking a lot of hard classes, I enjoy every single one of them, and use the challenge as a way to express my creativity, strengthen my mind and decision making, and develop my worldly view.
