Personal Statement
For the last 8 years, the pool has been where I’ve worked through all my stress and emotions. It’s where I learned the value of perseverance, met lifelong friends, and built relationships with people from around the country who I never would’ve known otherwise.
The summer of 2019 was when I truly fell in love with the racing aspect of swimming and started to feel like all my hours were starting to pay off. However, in March 2020, my freshman year, Covid hit and threw my training cycle into turmoil and I had no idea when I would next get back in the pool. It was like all my goals and strides had been unwritten in an instant. Luckily, we got back in the pool a few months later and I’ve been working every single chance we’ve had since then.
My collegiate goals are relatively simple on paper: I want a strong engineering program and a swim team that pushes me to be the best swimmer possible. The most important part of that to me is finding somewhere I can call home for 4 years and get up for each morning practice excited to push myself to the limit.
