Sophey Pope '22 Recruiting Profile

I am currently a Junior at Valley View High School in Jonesboro, AR. I’m looking for a college that will challenge me academically and athletically.

I started running Cross Country and Track in the 7th grade and fell in love with running, the sport, the competition, the challenges, and the joy it brings to my daily life. I love the feeling I get during and after a run, it just makes my whole day better. I am a member of The National Honor Society and I take my grades very seriously. It has been a goal of mine to run Cross Country and Track in College. I’m very determined and self driven to put in the hard work and sacrifice in the classroom as well as in my training to achieve my goals. I’m willing to go the extra mile to not only achieve my personal goals, but to also set a high standard for the school and program as a student athlete. I will be a good teammate that will be a good leader and respectfully represent my school on and off the field at all times. I am a 3 year 4A All State Cross Country Runner and also 2 time Champion at the 4A Indoor State Meet for the 1600m and 3200m. My Cross Country team recently won the Class 4A XC State Championship.  Outside of school and running, I love hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake with my family.

As of now, I want to be a Math teacher and Track/XC Coach.  I feel I would be a great contributor to any college because of my hard work, my refuse to give up attitude, my strive to be better everyday, and my passion to win in everything on and off the field. Hopefully these qualities will find me in the right situation in the right college program.
