Individual versus team victories; I decided I wanted both, therefore after being introduced to the sport of swimming for a few years I decided to join a year round club at the age of eight. I have an enormous passion for this sport because it has shaped me in ways I would have never imagined. I have become more dedicated and consistent in every aspect of my life, from home activities to school work. The friends I made through this sport have been my support system as well as my coach who pushes my limits to get to new places. Swimming is also crucial for my personal health, every time I am in the water my mind clears making all my troubles vanish since I am concentrating on giving my best and becoming better at every practice. It gives me a sense of pride to know that I am able to finish a challenging practice, or even when I finish a race and I see that my time has dropped. Seeing all my hard work pay off is what keeps me in this rigorous sport. The rush of adrenaline I get when I step on the blocks is so special that I want to repeat it over and over. Swimming is an special experience overall. This sport has taught me is that I am able to overcome difficult situations if I put my mind into. I also realized that I want to practice this sport in the long run and every practice now builds who I will be as an athlete in the future. Making this new family through swimming has made me realized that it takes a team to achieve individual victories. The positive mindset and experiences I have made and built throughout my years in this sport are one of the things that have impacted me more in my life.
