I initiated swim team at a young age, nine, by starting with summer swim clubs. Ever since, I have participate on over three year-long teams, various summer programs, and on my high school swim team. I have achieved multiple awards for breaking summer league records as well as for being the MVP for my team. I have been honored as the Most Dedicated Swimmer as well. I work hard to achieve not only the fastest time in my heat, but also strive to drop seconds every time I am competing. This past Junior year, I went to state with my high school team in relays as the backstroke and freestyle swimmer. I was also elected as a Swim Team Captain to represent and lead my team. I have lettered every year in this sport and have consistently dropped time. My main strokes are backstroke and freestyle. As my swim team season begins this winter, I want to lead my team as a role model and with my times.
Being a role model is not, thankfully, something that is new to me. I work everyday to lead by example as a Student Senator, Peer Counselor, and as a morally developed individual. I influence others by my consistent commitment to any and all activities I set my mind to. I believe that success can only be achieved if I give my 100% every time I work towards that activity. My work ethic is one that is unmatched. I put my heart, soul, and mind to all commitments in my life. When it comes to swimming, I work every second I am in the pool to better my mindset and performance. I do not believe in wasting opportunities, so if I must do what is required of me the first time and at all times.
Currently, I am a senior in many college course classes. My academics come before other activities since my education and gaining of knowledge is my primary focus. I have the dream to become a neurosurgeon, and to make that happen, I need to be able to not only be academically driven, but also capable of competing and working with others, which swimming can provide. My future goals include that of my occupation, but also to continue to be a devoted Catholic. Until that point, however, I will be working on making myself as well rounded and as knowledgeable as possible.
