Hi! My name is Amelia Meek and I attend Ruskin Christian School in Florida. Although I attend this school I swim for East Bay High School and have loved every second of my experience on their swim team! By no means have I been competitive in my “pre-highschool” swim years but high school seasons have driven me and motivated me so much. Throughout my swim years before high school, I had many coaches come and go (and when I say many, I’m talking 12 coaches within 2 years). It was very difficult for us to get much if any coaching majority of the time as coaching styles varied from each coach. In freshman year is where I truly started to blossom into a swimmer. I was district champion and made it to regionals for all 4 of my events! This past year (swim season 2022-23) was rough though, as our team had to adapt to change after losing so many swimmers because they had graduated the year before. I not only strived to make my high school coach proud but also to make an impact to those around me by encouragement and helping lead them in a right direction in their swimming careers as well. In my sophomore year I was not only captain of my high school team but also MVP! It made me realize that no matter how young you are compared to those around you, you can easily make an impact not just on yourself but to those around you as well which is what I want to do in life. As of now my true passion is to be a pediatrician as I love to work with kids and I believe I could make an impact in that field. Another option would be to take business management so I could run my dad’s business when he’s ready to retire. Whichever dream I follow, I will strive to make an impact to those around me :)
