Hello! My name is Mia Burgos, and I am a 2026 graduate of Lassiter High School. I have been swimming my entire life, and at the age of 12, I decided to take my commitment to the next level. These past years as an athlete have taught me many important lessons and skills. I’ve always had a strong passion for the sport, and regardless of the circumstances, I’ve learned to give 100% dedication—whether in practice or during competitions. Swimming has also taught me the importance of teamwork and support, values I hold dear and strive to bring to every team I’m a part of.
Being a student-athlete has helped me grow mentally, as I’ve learned the importance of balancing both academics and athletics. It has strengthened my time management and discipline. Looking ahead, my academic goals include studying business or interior design at a four-year college, preferably in the southern United States, close to home.
People often ask me why I chose swimming over other sports. The answer is simple: there is nothing I love more than competing with a team, like in relays, while also having the opportunity to shine in individual races. Swimming has pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, making me both physically and mentally stronger. It has instilled in me a sense of commitment, and I’m driven by the belief that there is always room for improvement and greater success as I strive to reach the next level.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
