Ever since I was 10 years old, my goal was to make it to the Olympics. Now, at 15 years old, that same goal is still holding strong. With a disciplined work ethic, I find myself coming closer to that goal every single day. Within those five years, I have achieved a Zone Champion Title in the 100 Breaststroke, three Age Group State Champion Titles in the 100 Breaststroke, and an Age Group State Champion Title in the 200 Breaststroke. I was also ranked 5th in the nation for the 100 Breaststroke and 7th in the nation for the 200 Breaststroke among my age group when I was 14 years old.
When I am not swimming, the same disciplined work ethic that I use in the pool follows me in my academics. In the upcoming year, I will be enrolled as a sophomore at Lake Forest Academy. I ended my freshman year with a cumulative unweighted GPA of 4.08/4.0, and was placed onto the Head of School List and the Academic Performance List for Lake Forest Academy. I also had the honor of being offered the opportunity to become a Moral Courage leader and an Interact Community Service leader as a freshman. Among these two clubs/groups, I was one of the youngest members to be offered such a high leadership role.
I give my work ethic and attitude towards life a lot of the credit when it comes to my accomplishments. I believe in discipline, patience, working smart, and determination. I constantly live by the motto ‘The sky’s the limit’ because I know that even when I think I have reached the top, I can still improve more and become better. And yet, when things get rough, I am able to think positively and keep pushing forward. Likewise, when I see a teammate struggling, I always find myself supporting them and cheering them on.
Now, as I am entering my first Senior LCM Championship season, I am working diligently in order to do well at my very first Summer Junior National meet in Irvine, California. Also, in the next three years of my high school education, I will be aiming to keep up the work I have put into my academics and go above and beyond the expectations. I am excited to see what my future holds for me!
