Personal Statement
I first started competitive swimming at the age of 7. I joined because I had taken swim lessons, and my mom and aunt were both swimmers when they were younger. However, I first started to really enjoy the sport around the age of 8 or 9 because of all the friendships I had made. The team-aspect of the sport is what I love most about it and the people I meet from all over the Midwest. I enjoy creating the bonds with my teammates that will last for the rest of my life. I also enjoy how competitive the sport is and how I am able to challenge myself every day. These are the reasons why I love the sport of swimming.
My goals before I graduate are to set the high school state record in the 500 free and to get more Junior National cuts (specifically the 200 free and 500 free). I would also like to get an Olympic Trials cut and go to the meet right before I start college. Academically, one of my main goals is to be accepted into the National Honor Society.
After high school, I am looking forward to a school where I am able to challenge myself both academically and athletically. I am currently undecided as to what my major in college will be, but favorite classes currently are Spanish and math. I think it will be fun and interesting to meet other swimmers with different backgrounds than me.
