Personal Statement
In 2014 I joined my first competitive swim team and fell in love with the sport of swimming! Since then, my goal has been to continue to improve both in and out of the water so I can continue to compete at my highest level as an athlete. I swim six days a week along with doubles, dryland workouts with my club swim team, and a weekly session with a personal trainer. I enjoy the competitive nature of my chosen sport and am determined to continue striving to do my personal best. To highlight this, while competing for my high school swim team, I was recognized with the “Hammer Award” for my focus and dedication and also the 2020 MVP Swimmer of the Year Award.
When I am not in the water, I excel in my academic studies with many AP classes and am involved with a number of extracurricular activities. I volunteer on a regular basis with children, am a member of my school’s Key Club, enjoy mentoring younger swimmers, and serve as a Student Council representative for my high school class. In addition, I was able to travel on a mission trip to Haiti to help the less fortunate which was a forever life-changing experience. As hard as I work as a competitive swimmer, it is also important to me to be an active member of my community, a positive member of my swim team, and a person with integrity.
I aspire to be a healthy, competitive athlete and a contributing member of a college swim team. With this goal in mind, I hope to make a positive impact on myself, my teammates, my college, and the greater community.
