Personal Statement
I am a competitive swimmer from Bel Air, MD. I have been swimming since 2010, which was when I was 6 years old. I started on a summer swim league, then the following year I joined club swimming at Bel Air Athletic Club. In 2018 I moved to North Baltimore Aquatic Club. In my years of swimming, I have attended two Eastern Zone Sectionals at Virginia Tech, as well as the Central Zone Sectionals in Indianapolis this past year. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and currently a 4.71 weighted GPA.
I am looking for a school in which can help me pursue my academic and athletic goals. Dedication, perseverance, and character are qualities that I believe I can bring to the team and benefit the working environment in both the classroom and the pool. I believe that having a team culture in which we are able to uplift and support each other is one of the most important qualities that I work to help achieve. What sets me apart from others is that athletically and academically, once I have my mind set on something, I will get it done. I also have wanted swimming to be a ‘life-long sport’ because I am always looking for ways to improve myself, as well as swimming is a big part of my life and I would love to have the opportunity to continue it in college. I would also love to pursue a college or university with many opportunities regarding engineering, but I am not completely sure of what I would like to major in as of now. I, personally, am open to many different types of schools, but ideally, I would love to be able to go into the Ivy League – it has always been one of my dreams. Athletics-wise, I believe I have a great work ethic and am always motivated to achieve my goals. I would like to make an impact on the team, contributing to a positive environment and supporting my teammates.
