I started swimming because my mother and father are whitewater kayak instructors and I wanted to learn how to swim well to be more comfortable in swift water rapids. In fifth grade, I was introduced to competitive swimming through the summer pool swim team. Immediately it was obvious that I wanted to be able to keep up with the girls that were making “A” meets. I realized that I am highly competitive and that fall I asked my mother to sign me up for a year-round club team. I improved in the rankings as I aged up in the club. Presently, as a senior, I’m in one of the most elite groups in my club and beating the same girls I wanted to keep up with in fifth grade.
I love helping to create a fun and positive team environment for my high school, summer, and club teams. I’m very close with all of my teammates as we support each other when facing challenges and we celebrate each other’s successes. I very much look forward to being a student-athlete in college and pursuing a career path in veterinary medicine.
