Hi! I am Julianna Mason. I am 15 years old and go to The MacDuffie School. I am in 10th grade, and I swim for the Holyoke Vikings. Swimming has really affected my life in so many ways, it has formed me into the person I am today. It has made me a leader, allowed me to improve my goal setting, made me more physically in shape and allowed me to learn how to work with so many different kinds of people.
Swimming would be an amazing thing for me to do in college because it would make me feel a part of a larger school than I’m used to because I would get to meet all of the amazing people on my team. Next, swimming in college would make me feel so much more embedded in my college besides someone who that just studies there. I would be able to help out my school and represent it too.
Swimming has been such an amazing sport for me since I was 8 years old. It has shown me a great work ethic, shown me the value of perseverance through hardships, is a great way to stay in shape and has shown me how to cooperate, guide, teach and be a role model to people of many ages. It not only improves my physical strength, but my mental strength and has shaped me into who I am today. It is an amazing outlet to help me release stress from school and life, which feels crucial to have throughout my college career.
