I started swimming lessons at a young age and joined my first swim team at the age of 8. I immediately fell in love with the sport because of the rush I get from competing and the way swimming provides an escape from eveything going on around me. I began wanting to swim in college during my sophomore year of high school because I want to continue to compete and improve myself throughout my college years. I also want to continue being in a team environment and make what could be lifelong friendships with my teammates.
Swimming has taught me many things. Two that I find to be the most important are time management and friendship. Balancing school and swimming has become a habit at this point in my life. Swimming forces me to get things done ahead of time and not wait until the last minute. Being on a swim team and making friends has taught me about healthy competition and how to encourage each other to be our best selves in and out of the pool.
I'm an active leader in my community. In the summer and fall I participate in volunteer work through my school and in the winter I teach skiing to people of all ages.
