Madelyn Grasley '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Madelyn Grasley, and I've been swimming since I was 8 years old. My favorite and best event is the 100 back. But I love to swim anything when I have the chance to do so. I've always been in the pool, for high school swim or club swim. I fell in love with this sport at a very young age. It feels as if this is what I was meant to do. 

I love cheering on my teammates and seeing them accomplish their goals. It's one thing when I get a best time, but I love seeing everyone else succeed as well. I was one of four captains on my high school team, and it was the best, being there for my team when they needed someone to talk to, for advice. They were my family. Now it's time for me to find another team that I can call family. I just realized this year that I wanted to swim in college. I'm not ready for my swim career to be over just yet. I want to improve even more and prove to myself that I am strong enough to do so.

I've always done well in school. I love learning new things that will benefit me in the future. My favorite classes are math classes and health care related courses. I took health occupations my junior year and it really made me see what it would be like to be a nurse. I've always knew that I wanted to become a nurse because of my Grandmother who has dementia. My mom is the full time caregiver of my Grandma, and I often help her take care of her. She is the reason why I want to become a Geriatric Nurse. I am also in an EMT course this year, and it's allowing me to go out of my comfort zone and explore new things. I know that I have been put on this earth to help people and that is what I enjoy doing. I cant wait till the day I get to put a smile on someone's face while being their nurse.
