Being a student athlete, I have experienced my share of ups and downs. I qualified for D1 states as a freshman in the 100 breaststroke and was able to repeat it my sophomore year. Junior year proved to be a challenging year both physically and mentally. I fell short due to a lack of focus. Despite the setback, I wasn't going to let that mindset continue on - something must change. The high school swim season ended this past fall (2018) and since then I have made tremendous progress rebuilding my confidence and determination. Both coaches and teammates have mentioned an improvement in my work ethic and positive attitude.
Every year at the end of the high school season, each swimmer votes for next years captains. This fall, my teammates elected me as their captain for the 2019 season. I am humbled and honored that they trust me to lead the team. I will be fully dedicated to putting the team first and making sure they are on the correct path to success. We are going to achieve our goals together because this team is more than team, it's a family. I know they won’t be disappointed.
I am looking for a college or university that can academically and athletically challenge me. Being a part of a supportive swim team that pushes me and brings out my true potential not only in the pool but also in the classroom is huge. Having a 4.0 GPA shows that I take my education seriously. I am looking forward to facing the next challenge!
