The growth I experienced this past year through swim has been amazing. As a key contributor to my high school team’s state championship title, I learned how valuable teamwork and dedication are to being our best. My team set high goals at the beginning of the season which required each of us to push and encourage one another. This started from the first day of practice and continued throughout our undefeated season. I was able to exceed expectations as a result, placing 3rd and 7th at state in my individual events to score valuable points towards our state title. Swimming has taught me that hard work and perseverance pay off, no matter how long it may take, and it has been a huge part of my life ever since I joined Parkway Swim Club in third grade. During my time in this sport, I’ve seen that pushing myself mentally and physically has allowed me to reach my full potential.
The impacts from swimming have not only helped me in the pool, but in school and life as well. I have learned how to manage my time and seize the opportunities I have instead of procrastinating, leading to my high GPA, participation in other activities and finding time for friends and family. My goal is to graduate high school with a 4.0 weighted GPA; I am driven to attend a strong academic university. Through other valuable experiences and as the oldest sibling in my family, I have learned to lead others and carry out my responsibilities well – I can always be counted on to get the job done. My faith and family have taught me to never give up and to always have a positive attitude. I am so excited to be a great teammate and positively contribute to your swim program and the university with my leadership, strong work ethic, positive outlook, and dedication.
