I started club swimming competitively, later than most students. As a rookie..lets face it...I was awful. Breaking a 30 in my 50 free as a 14 year old was olympic material to me... As I've grown as a swimmer I switched club teams twice to have the right fit. By sophomore year I realized that practice isn't just about attendance. It's about integrity..the willingness to give 110% during those early morning lift sessions or after school sprints...GRIT. Something I see myself demonstrating in and out of the pool during the various clubs and organizations I take part in or run. As president of both student government and a feminist group in my school (Girl Talk), and a member of the All South Jersey chorus, I see myself as a optimistic role model in the lane, halls, and rehearsals. My goal for senior year and beyond is to continue this optimistic personality of mine, and to be completely true to myself. If I'm not working hard enough in anything I do, there will be no good results. I believe that with a good attitude and some grit, anything is possible...proving that breaking a 30 second WAS a big deal because I knew in my heart that I worked hard for that accomplishment.. and many more to come.
