Personal Statement
Hi Coaches!
My name is Megan Dera and I have been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old. I still remember the years of writing “Eat My Bubbles” on my back and almost missing my race every meet. Since then, there have been many ups and downs but I’ve learned that there are many mountains to climb in order to achieve your goals. Through swimming, I have been able to push through hardships and obstacles in order to climb those mountains. This is something that I think is valuable to any aspect of life. Swimming has taught me that working towards your goals and accomplishments is one of the toughest yet rewarding processes there is. In addition, this sport has brought me my most cherished friendships and understanding of what it means to be a team player. I look forward to continuing my swimming career in college because I am excited for the next chapter, am ready to learn new things, and create memories that will last forever!
