My goal as a teacher is to build meaningful relationships and serve as a role model, making a lasting positive impact on young learners.
Currently, I am enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at Ulster BOCES, where I am gaining knowledge about child development, including physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs. These experiences are preparing me to be an effective teacher in an early childhood classroom. Upon completing this course, I will earn a certificate alongside my high school diploma. I was selected for an internship at a nursery school in Kingston, New York, where I have the opportunity for hands-on experience supporting young children’s learning and development, further strengthening my skills and passion for this career path.
Outside of school, I have gained valuable experience as a counselor at Rosendale Town Camp for four years—three years as a counselor-in-training and one as a counselor. In this role, I ensured camper safety, planned activities, and taught important life skills. I have also worked as a lifeguard at Wiltwyck Golf Course Pool and the Kingston YMCA, where I am certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR, and by the American Safety and Health Institute for AED use and lifeguarding. These positions taught me responsibility, time management, and the importance of clear communication, all essential qualities for a future educator. Through these experiences, I developed strong leadership skills and learned how to adapt to different situations, collaborate with others, and guide younger children.
In addition to academics, I am a dedicated athlete. Throughout high school, I have participated in varsity track and field, cross country, indoor track, and competitive swimming. Since 2018, I have been a member of the YMCA Hurricane Swim Team, and in the summer, I swim for the Rosendale Rapids, in Rosendale NY and run with the Shawangunk Runners Club. These activities keep me physically active, strengthen my love for the outdoors, and teach me teamwork and dedication. I look forward to continuing athletics in college and hope to participate in the college cross country, track, or swimming team, which will help me maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle while connecting with others.
