Ever since I first joined my swim club nine years ago, swimming has been a central focus in my every day life - it's on my brain 24/7. Unfortunately, I am basically alone in my school in my love of swimming and I have not had the opportunity to swim on a varsity team because my school does not have a swim team. I think being able to represent my school in a sport that I love would be a really awesome feeling. It has always been a desire of mine to be able swim in college.
My club swim team is very technique focused, over the years I have spent a lot of time on each stroke. For this reason, I don't really have a primary stroke or event even though I have tried to identify one or two for my profile. I swim basically any stroke and most distances and with a few weeks training, I can be coached into whatever stroke or distance is needed. I am told I am "coachable" - which makes me versatile, and a valuable asset to any team because I am able to fill in when teams have unexpected openings or injuries.
My team is my second family, and I love supporting them, whether it is screaming at the top of my lungs cheering them on, giving them a hug, or pep talk when they aren't feeling their best. With the help of my team I have learned how to focus, challenge myself instead of compare myself to others, and love this sport as a whole. I look forward to constantly improving because when you do take those few seconds off your personal best time you know how hard you worked for those seconds, and that feeling is worth all the hard work.
