Personal Statement
Hi my name is Ellie Polter. I am a multi-sport athlete, and I also maintain a 4.4 GPA. I am someone who sets goals for myself, and will work hard to obtain them. Freshman year of high school, I went to districts for swim in the 200 IM, competing a week before I had a major surgery. I have swam and completed both my freshman and sophomore year of swimming injured, while still making it to districts. I swam both years on my varsity team, but it’s hard to be swimming in high school knowing I was faster when I was 12. It’s discouraging, and feels as if years and years of work have gone to waste, but that didn’t stop me from doing what I love. I have had a love for swimming ever since I was 7 years old and I wanted to work on becoming stronger to improve my techniques as well as my stamina and endurance to help reach my goals of making it to state as an individual the upcoming year. I ended up not qualifying for state by 0.04 seconds, however, that only motivates me more for my junior year. During my off season, summer & fall, I'm focusing on strength training and swimming for a club team ( Cleveland Swim Institute) to prepare me for my high school season. I take honors classes, as well as AP, and CCP. I want to major in Education, and minor in history or Spanish. I want to teach abroad when I’m older, preferably in Spain, and immerse myself somewhere new. It excites me to learn more about spanish and education to help others learn how to speak my native language!
