Hello. My name is Miranda Northcott, and I am 16 years old and go to River Bluff High School, but I attend The College Center in Lexington, SC. I am going to graduate in 2027 with a high school diploma and an associate degree in the arts because of the resources that I have been given at The College Center. I am a current varsity swimmer on my high school team. I also swim for the Carolina Aquatics Swim Team year-round and Topspin over the summer. Over the summer, I am a swim coach for the little kids who come to Swim America to learn how to swim.
I hope to major in nursing and attend a school with a good nursing program. Suppose nursing does not work out, I hope to major in criminology and work in law enforcement. Even though swimming is important to me, I prioritize my academics. My prime strokes are backstroke and freestyle. I am a decent butterfly and hope to improve every time I swim IM. My weakest stroke is breaststroke, and I hope to get better in the next two years before college. It is an unpopular opinion, but I enjoy the morning practices before school. I enjoy doing other things with my teammates, like senior night, going out to eat for a Christmas party, the free time in between races at meets, and so many more things to come. In all of the teams that I have been on, it is always a party every time we meet.
I am not a big fan of quotes, but two of my favorite quotes that I know. "Walk softly and carry a big stick; you will go far". President Theodore Roosevelt. I thought this quote was powerful to me because you don't need to be loud to be strong. The other one was “Your life begins when your comfort zone ends.” Jeff Jenkins. I think that this is so powerful because I know people who will not get out of their fear and always think about how things might go wrong, and never see the beauty that lies before them.
Thank you!!!
