Personal Statement
Having started swimming at the age of eight, I have learned many valuable life lessons. Such as the importance of managing my time, as well as striving to be a leader, good teammate and positive role model. I believe that a kind heart, positive outlook, and the will to work is the key to success in life. To me, swimming is not a hobby but a passion and lifestyle. Because of this, I work hard to make things happen rather than wait to let it happen. My parents taught me at an early age the importance of discipline and respect. Because of this, I work very hard to practice both of these with them, my teachers and coaches.
Although swimming is very important to me, I also realize the importance of academics. Being a member of the National Honor Society, I know how to study and achieve my academic goals. I also am looking forward to improving in my swimming as well. I have been fortunate to have placed in many state-wide meets multiple years in row, but it is merely a reminder that I must continually work to improve. My goal this year is to qualify for a sectionals cut during my senior year. I am very much looking forward to this new chapter of my life and hope to push myself to be my very best no matter where I attend school!
