Personal Statement

I see swimming as more than just a sport - it's a way of life. I am eager to continue pushing my limits, crushing personal records, and aiming for the most prestigious times to attain my full potential. Training has become a daily- usually bidaily- part of my week, and even then, I am eager to go to practice and push to improve. The rush of adrenaline before a practice race, the thrill of completing a main set- that is what completes my day. Whether it's representing my school, my community, or my country, I'm committed to giving my all, both in and out of the pool.

Continuing to compete both academically and physically at a rigorous level is essential to me. I want to compete as a member of a prestigious, selective, and elite team surrounded by partners who are also ambitious and also passionate. Swimming as a collegiate athlete will give me the opportunity to achieve that goal and compete beyond in international races, as well as to pursue a career in legal studies at an esteemed institution.

Speedo Junior National Championships
7/31/23 to 8/04/23
This was my first ever Junior National Championship! I was invited to do the 200 Fr, 400 Fr, and 800 Fr relay, and I had flown out to California and competed here right after the main meet of my season, TAGS. It was amazing, and I was rather starstruck by being able to swim with all of the super fast elite swimmers and teammates I've always looked up to . Though my times were not quite as fast as they were on the TAGS relays (with the exception of the 50 Free Time Trial I got to sign up for) I still think it was a great experience, as it was quite a prestigious meet.

2023 Long Course Texas Age Group Championships
7/26/23 to 7/30/23
I swam the 800 Fr Relay (Anchor), 200 IM (Finalist, PB), 100 Fr (Finalist), 400 Medley Relay (Anchor), 200 Fr (Finalist, PB), 400 IM (Finalist, PB), 400 Fr Relay (Leadoff), 400 Fr (Finalist, PB), 200 Fr Relay (Anchor), 200 Br (Finalist, PB), 50 Free, and 200 Medley Relay (Anchor). This meet was unique for me, and in all the best ways. Though it was a hot outdoor meet, I had competed at this facility multiple times before, just never for a state championship. I had fun with friends, cheered for my team, and raced super hard, earning my first Futures cuts in the 200 IM and the 100 Free, as I got the chance to be the relay leadoff instead of anchor in the 400 Free Relay. I had an amazing time at this meet!

2023 Long Course Speedo Sectionals - Austin
6/06/23 to 6/09/23
This swim meet is important to me because it was my first time being a finalist at Sectionals. Since I did not get the chance to go the previous Short Course season due to choosing to go to the TAGS state championship instead, this meet was a refreshing experience. I saw many fast swimmers that I usually only read about in articles and magazines, and got to race with amazing teammates on the 800 Freestyle Relay. At this meet, I swam and made it to finals in the 200 Br and 400 IM, making what was then my personal best times.

2022 Southern Zones Age Group Championship
7/26/22 to 7/30/22
I swam the 200 Fr, 200 Br, 100 Fr, 400 IM, 400 Free Relay (Top 3), 200 IM, 50 Free (Finalist), and 200 Meter Free Relay (Top 3). As a freshly turned thirteen-year old, I was the youngest 13-14 girl on the South Texas Team, and had competed at the state championship (TAGS) a few days before. It was a great experience, and my first ever out-of-state swim meet!

2022 Long Course Speedo Sectionals - Austin
7/07/22 to 7/10/22
This was my first ever Sectionals! It was my first season as a thirteen year old and I had achieved my first Sectionals hard cut in the 50 Freestyle the meet two weeks before. At Sectionals that season, I swam the 50 Fr and 200 Bk, getting a best time in the latter. I was so excited- and, honestly, a bit scared- to be swimming with the "big kids", and it was an introduction into bigger meets.
