Hi, my name is Libby(Elizabeth) Miyashita and i've been swimming for most of my life, since I was 5. I swam for my local summer pool for about 2 years alone and then I later joined our YMCA for year round swimming. I was able to gain a lot of skill and strength while making friends and learning a lot from my coaches. When Covid-19 shut everything down, I wasn't able to swim for about 4-5 months and I followed two of my friends who went to SwimRVA. I loved the different environment that club swimming gave me because I was able to see the same people everyday and create connections with a bigger amount of people at meets and at practice. I've been swimming for my high school team for 2 years. I qualified for states in the 100 butterfly and in 4 relays. For my club, I qualified for our Senior Championships in 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly. I also recently went to a meet in Florida called ISCA Elite Senior showcase with other qualifiers from SwimRVA.
I am a swim coach at the YMCA where my year round swim career started and I teach kids and encourage them through meets just like I am. I balance advanced classes along with two jobs, coaching and lifeguarding, while also keeping in tune with my social life and home life. I hope I find that certain sense of community and positivity that I found at SwimRVA at whatever college I go to.
