Personal Statement

Swimming isn’t just a sport to me—it’s a part of who I am. The pool has been my constant, my anchor, through every challenge and transition in my life. It has shaped my resilience, discipline, and determination, and I can’t imagine my life without it. As a teammate, I bring the same commitment, pushing myself and those around me to grow. I know that in college, I will carry this same mindset, contributing both in and out of the water.

Beyond athletics, I thrive on challenges. Academically, I push myself by enrolling in every advanced class available to me because I believe that growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone. But my ability to adapt goes beyond academics—I’ve lived on four different continents throughout my life, immersing myself in different cultures, languages, and perspectives. Each new country has taught me how to navigate change, embrace diversity, and appreciate the different ways people think and live. These experiences have shaped me into an open-minded, adaptable, and curious individual who is always eager to learn from others.

Looking ahead, I am excited to study psychology, particularly the mental resilience needed to succeed in both sports and academics. I’ve learned firsthand that success isn’t just about skill—it’s about mindset, confidence, and perseverance. I want to help others strengthen that part of themselves, just as I have worked to strengthen my own.

With my determination, global perspective, and passion for both athletics and learning, I’m eager to take on new challenges in college and contribute meaningfully to my future community.
