Personal Statement

I have been competitively swimming for 9 years, and every single year I love it even more. My passion for this sport is what has brought me and what continues to bring me back to the pool to compete, learn and thrive.

Others look to me as a leader in practice which allows me to not only push myself, but others as well. This also helps to build relationships that increase my love for this sport further. Everyday I show up to practice with a positive mindset, and I will carry this mindset throughout four great years at college.

Growing up, I was always told “don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try.” I use this quote in both swim meets and practices, knowing hard work will get me further than talent alone.  Because of this motivation and work ethic, I have been able to achieve many of my stretch goals.  These characteristics have not only helped me achieve these goals, but they also push me to want to achieve goals in the future. Due to my competitive nature, I am always striving to perform my best.

Self discipline is reflected in everything I do; I balance swimming and school in a way that I can succeed in both and pursue both of these with full focus.  To date, I am able to maintain good grades without sacrificing time in the pool.

Although there have been many roadblocks along my swimming journey, I have focused on the prize of success, have been willing to take criticism and apply it to ultimately be where I am today all the while believing in myself even in times of doubt or fear.

Overall, I hope to continue my academic and swimming career at a college that helps me follow these characteristics and continue to improve not only my times and academic ability, but my love for the sport as well.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
