Hi Coaches!
My name is Sara Mayer, and I have been swimming competitively since the second grade (7 years old). Swimming at the collegiate level has always been a dream of mine, and a lifetime opportunity.
I am a hardworking athlete in and out of the pool. For example in the pool I am very coachable. When it comes to technique, dry land, and sets, I am always looking for improvement from my coaches and colleagues to become a successful swimmer in my home club and high school teams, along with in the future at the collegiate level. I am also a leader on my team. Being an older swimmer on my team has allowed me to lead the other swimmers and set a good example by interacting with everyone and creating a positive atmosphere.
Out of the pool I continue to work hard by maintaining a high GPA, and staying involved in different clubs and organizations. At school I am involved in Key Club and National Honors Society. Outside of school I am involved in activities within my church and I volunteer, teaching log rolling at the YMCA, along with a local organization called Peyton's Promise. Peyton’s Promise is an non profit organization that raises food for local pantries in the area. I continue my leadership through Peyton's Promise as the President of the organization. I also take charge and lead two drives, a fall food drive during Thanksgiving that raises around 5-8 tons of food each year, and a pop tab drive for the Ronald McDonald House that collects over 500 pounds each year. I have been doing both of these drives for over five years.
My goal at the collegiate level is to find the school for me! I want to be able to push myself in the classroom and the pool. I hope to be a good role model wherever I go to all my peers, and make the most of swimming at the collegiate level.
Looking forward to speaking with you soon!
