Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Kate Sexton and I am a junior from Sacramento, California. I do my schooling online with Visions in Education. I have played tennis since I was 4 years old, and began competing when I was 8. Throughout the years, I've had the chance to compete in international tournaments like the junior Orange Bowl, and also many national USTA tournaments around the country. I've had success at a high level, winning a National Level 3 in 2017, and winning a round in Orange Bowl, also in 2017. I train at least 6 days a week at Rio Del Oro Sports Club in Sacramento under top coaches who never fail to lead a good practice. I spend at least five of those days doing both drilling and match play, giving me a good balance of skills on court. I also do a great deal of work in the gym at Results Physical Therapy, also in Sacramento. My passion for tennis has helped me grow so much as a person, and I can't wait to continue learning and growing while playing college tennis!
I also take my schooling very seriously. I plan to major in Psychology, and hope to eventually get a job in Forensic Psychology. I work very hard in school, and am currently studying to take my SAT. I have always been able to remain just as motivated in the classroom as I do on court.
I have also had the privilege of getting to pass on my knowledge in tennis to younger players who may someday be in the same position I am in right now. I have helped coached some clinics over summer, and just offered my advice to younger players on difficult parts of the game. These experiences with kids have been some of my best memories in the sport aside from competing.
I am hoping to find a good athletic and academic balance in college, and am open to many different options! Thank you so much for getting to know me!
