Iroda Makhamatjonova '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Iroda Makhamatjonova, I am an Uzbek citizen, but I was living in Turkey. I was born on the 26th of September 2004, I would like to give some brief information about my accomplishments so far.

I am a 12th-grade student at Waterloo, IL Gibault Catholic High School. I was the captain of my school Vizyon College Turkish high school tennis team. I’ve been doing this sport for 13 years since I was 5 years old. My International Tennis Federation (ITF) juniors highest ranking is 888, and in Tennis Europe is 438. I started my ITF pro tournaments. When my father took me for my first tennis training, I was so excited and that was how my tennis career started. I like to play on the big tennis court. I love tennis and I’m thankful for my father’s choice. The most important thing I love about tennis is feeling free on the tennis court. I can feel powerful. I can use all my power and my concentration. I trained every day to become successful, and when I was 10 years old I got into the Uzbekistan national team, and played in the team for 5 years, then in 2015 I represented Uzbekistan country in the Tennis Europe tournament in Antalya, and right at that time, the Koza World of Sports Academy invited me to train in their tennis team, and because of this I completely moved to Istanbul and continue my studies and training. In Istanbul I am studying at Vizyon College on full scholarship, I am the first tennis player to establish the school tennis team in our school. I became a captain when I first got to my school and I’ve been the captain ever since, for 6 years. Our team became first in the General High school tennis tournament in Turkey.

In all of these, I never kept my academic studies aside, I am successful in my studies from middle school till now that I’m in the 11th grade in high school, and I participated in a bunch of activities in school like; TED talks, MUN club, and school drama club. Besides my school life, I have many hobbies in my everyday life. Some of them are taekwondo, and archery and I can cook traditional Uzbek, Russian and Turkish meals. In my free time, I take online courses on Coursera to improve myself, for now, I have 19 certificates and 1 specialization in economics. My certificates are in International Relations, as I want to study in this area at the university.  

In my social life, I’m very active. I’m taking the initiative to make friends easily, I’m disciplined, and put my responsibilities in front of me. I love to help those who are in need. In our school, I’m taking an important role to help new students by making orientation programs. And also I'm a school representative.

I have a small family of 4, my both parent, me, and my elder sister, I am the last child of the family, in my family, and they are all doctors except me. My father is an orthopedist and my mother is a physiotherapist. I’m thankful for these traits in my family. They are always supporting me and teaching me life skills.
