Maggie Weber '15 Recruiting Profile

        Tennis has always been in my life, starting at the age of 5, where the racket seemed to be almost as tall as me. With an amazing tennis program in my community and a dad that taught me everything I know, I have come to love the sport of tennis. However, I have realized that with a passion for sports comes a dedication to academics as well. I pride myself on being a driven student, and push myself to be the best I can be. I do that by taking college classes, AP classes, and evolving myself in various clubs and organizations. 

       A lot of people look at tennis as an individual sport, however, it is my belief that when you play for a team you play for each other. This is one of the reasons I believe I would be worthy candidate for any college team - nothing compares to teamwork. I strive to be the best teammate I can be on and off the courts. I enjoy being a leader and take the initiative when needed. I am also a very positive person, and believe that there is always something to work on or something to improve on. My positive outlook guides me to become a better player when faced with challenges, and leads me to become a better person, teammate, and player. 

      My tennis achievements have ranged from Championships from community and Northern Iowa tournaments from first to eight grade to my State Championships in high school. I claimed 10 trophies and titles before high school in community tournaments such as the Cedar Valley Open. Once in high school, I played at the number 5 position during the 2013 season for a 1A State Tennis Team Championship. The following year, I played at number 3 to win another State Tennis Team title. I also paired up with our number 2 player to take 5th place  for doubles at the State Tournament in 2014.

      Tennis is not my only passion - I have a love for sports in general. I have also been dancing and bowling since the age of 5 and do not plan on stopping anytime soon. I currently hold a 14th and 7th State Honor for Bowling and am a two time State Dance Champion in Pom and Hip Hop divisions. I also received a Divison 1 rating as a competing soloist in the 2014 State Competiton. 

     I am excited about my future, and looking forward to all the experiences and success it may bring!
