My name is Addison Smith. I am from Seattle Washington and am currently attending Seattle Preparatory School where I have played #1 singles and doubles for the past two years on Varsity tennis. I have been playing tennis since I was 9 years old on the high-performance team for my club and have been training with Hans Podlipnik Castillo (who recently came off tour In 2020) for the past 3 years. I consistently push myself through my academics and athletics. I swam for two years on varsity, and ran varsity cross country this fall, finishing in the top 3 on my team. My partner and I placed 2nd in state 3A my freshman year and 3rd my sophomore season. As captain of the girl’s tennis team at Seattle Prep it is my goal to not only encourage my teammates to work hard, but also create a family of players that support each other and are willing to fight for every point. I love tennis and it is my dream to play in college and be able to compete at a high level with talented athletes and amazing people. I think I would be a great fit for your team because I am a leader, coachable, and dedicated to reaching my full potential both on and off the court.
Recommendation from Coach (Hans Podlipnik Castillo
To whom it may concern, My name is Hans Podlipnik and I’m the tennis coach of Addison Smith. I was fortunate enough to play on the ATP tour for over 16 years (best ranking of 43 in doubles, and 157 in singles). I was blessed with the opportunity to play for my country at the Olympics, and at over 18 Davis Cups and Grand Slams. As a coach, it is not often when one finds young players who are willing to work harder than most, sacrifice, and do it on a continuous way to achieve a high level of skill. Addison will go beyond to give her all as an athlete, and that has made her one of my top students. It’s her wonderful ability to give her all, but also support her teammates that makes working with her stand out. I believe that whichever college Addison chooses, the coach there will enjoy working with her immensely, and will witness how the team will thrive with good vibes and energy.
I cannot recommend Addison enough, and I wish for her to continue her rising tennis career in college.
Best, Hans Podlipnik
Recommendation from Highschool Coach (Mark Frisby)
This letter serves as a recommendation for Addison Smith who I have known as a student and participant of our high school tennis team.
Briefly Addison is a person of impeccable character, diligent, and an extremely dedicated and hard-working individual. She is the captain of our tennis team as only a junior, but extremely well respected and is outstanding in her relationship with teammates. She is one of the hardest and most dedicated workers I have coached in my 50 years of coaching. I cannot recommend her enough as she will be a valuable asset to any higher academic institution, both as a student, an inspiration, and a dedicated athlete. If you have further questions, you can call me at (206) 940-3135. I wish her continued success.
Regards, Mark A. Frisby
