Ever since I started running in 6th grade, I've wanted to run at the collegiate level. I've always loved long distance and I prefer it over anything else but I am a flexible runner and am pretty good at mid-distance too. I run at a 1A school, so I don't specialize in a specific event. I run whatever is best for the team and if Coach needs me to run something I've never run before because someone can't, I'll give it my all.
What stands me and almost anyone on my team out from others is that we will help anyone. It doesn't matter what team you're on or if you were rude before the race, we'll cheer for you. Whether you're in first or last, I believe that everyone should feel encouraged to keep going and do their best. I help both the Varsity and Junior High teams improve by giving them advice and leading them through example.
I don't take critiques personally. The way I see it, it's not anything against me, it's just something I'll strive to improve. I'm not perfect, and I know I have a long way to go. I consistently improve and reach times I didn't realize I could get, which makes me even more eager to prove myself and set even higher goals.
I would like to go to a college that helps me succeed in both academics and athletics. I am open to any schools in the US, and I want to find a school and team that is right for me. I hope to have a successful career in both school and athletics.
