Personal Statement
My name is Claire Yerby. I am a three varsity sport athlete at Half Moon Bay High School in Half Moon Bay, California. Although I have a strong passion for basketball, my love for running is something that cannot be beat. I have been running since the fifth grade when my teacher would make me race her during the mile in PE. That first feeling of racing and flying was unforgettable. Since then I have found an unconditional love for running and competing. Running has taught me many life lessons and given me a work ethic that has helped me on the track and in the classroom. There is nothing that parallels the camaraderie that a team obtains by pushing each other to your absolute limits daily. This is what I love about running, the knowledge that you gave everything you had, and you are better because of it. I am looking forward to continuing to run at the collegiate level and doing what I love the most.
