Hello my name is Ruby Mboya. Moving on to the next portion of my life my dream would be to be able to start my journey to becoming a pediatric doctor. As well being a doctor it would be my dream to pursue Track and Field as well. To me Track has become more than just a sport; I have pushed myself way beyond my limits, had great achievements, but most importantly I found a family. Track goes way beyond the hours of hard work for a couple seconds on the track, and the few jumps you get to take. It has provided me with confidence, happiness, and physical fitness. Track which many don't identify as a team sports symbolizes unity to me it takes effort from every single athlete on each team to be successful. As I approach my senior year as Captain of both indoor and outdoor Track at Danbury High school my main goal is not only to continue our undefeated streak but to also have the girls on my team gain a sense of passion, love, unity, and confidence. Personally I am a hard worker, I do not ever settle for less than my best in academics and athletics as well. This past season I was honored by my school and by the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference with the Scholar Athlete award. The most important characteristics I could bring to the team is that I am a very vibrant personality with a very focused attitude who is truly in love with the sport of Track and Field. You cannot succeed in anything that you are not truly passionate for and I honestly can say I enjoy every minute of Track and I even volunteer coaching youth as well in the sport and that is part of the reason I want to pursue pediatrics as well. My love for helping children is so strong and since I was born in Africa I have seen many children who could benefit from help and though it may be a long shot my dream would be go back and specialize in childhood disease and make an impact because just like me I believe everyone deserves a chance. In terms of Track I work very well in team atmospheres and enjoy hard work because the reward at the end overrides all pain felt. I believe everything that you put yourself to is about progress. When I began Track I was by no means competitive even compared to my own teammates; however, after months of hard work and perseverance I was able to play a big role on my team the last two seasons. If I was given the opportunity to compete in college it would be extremely special to me because not only would I be given the opportunity to compete everyday I would also be able to find my family in college too.
