Personal Statement

Pursuing my ideals of running collegiate Cross Country and Track and studying International Business has been a goal of mine since I began high school at The Taft School. I began my Cross Country and Track careers two years ago as a Freshmen, but have since found a passion for a sport fueled by competitive nature, yet filled with individual and team competition dependent on sportsmanship and camaraderie. Participating in a collegiate Cross Country and Track program and attending a school with top- notch academics are only the beginning of my college aspirations; I am looking for a program with opportunities to work on community service and leadership.

I am hoping that my passion for running will help me in other aspects of life, and am looking to grow in a college environment where I can receive coaching in order to reach my full potential.

ActivitiesI volunteer through my church at a nursing home, I make bi-monthly sandwiches for the local soup kitchen; I went on a Mission Trip with Group Mission trips to Ocean View, Delaware in June of 2015 and am planning to go on another trip in the summer of 2016. I volunteer through The Taft School at a local charter school twice a week teaching and helping kids with schoolwork and artistic activities. Through school, I also serve meals at the local soup kitchen. I also hold an important leadership position at Taft, called a dormitory monitor in a Freshmen and Sophomore girls dormitory. I am considered a role model to the new students as I spend "duty" nights mentoring the girls as well as enforcing dormitory rules and regulations.
