I have always been a multiple sport athlete, but what has been consistent throughout my athletic career is my determination, my level of coach-ability, and drive to be the best. I am extremely competitive in everything I do. Given track hasn't always been my main sport, I am a "raw" track athlete. I spend my other seasons playing other sports, so much of what I have accomplished is simply from my cross training. I will be curious as to what I can do once I truly dedicate myself to track year round in college. I feel like I have a lot of room to grow as an athlete, and with the right coaching I truly believe I could drastically improve my times.
My love for running began when I around five years old. Since my father commuted into the city every day, I didn't see him often. This meant that on the weekends, or around 5:30 in the morning, we would get up and go for a run. As I got older I began to cherish this time more and more. Running became special time with my father and outlet for stress. When I went to boarding school I put my love of running to use, and this stress outlet became so much more beneficial. This is how I came to love track. It turned a stress outlet into a way to compete, which made it all the more fun.
My competitiveness has always played into my academics as well as my athletics. That is why I went boarding school at age fourteen. I wanted a stronger, more competitive academic environment, and that I what I found. I am a dedicated student and love to learn. I am not sure what I want to major in yet, but I know that I want to be challenged, engaged, stretched intellectually, and surrounded by people who are as enthusiastic about learning as I am.
