After being a competitive gymnast for 9 years, I decided to try track and field this year, my junior year of high school. I stepped back from club gymnastics in part because I wanted to try track and field, and it turns out I love it! After starting a new sport I have improved my technique throughout the season and my coaches have told me I am coachable. After being a competitive athlete for a long time, I have learned to take feedback and adversity to use it to make corrections in a positive manner. I know the value of working long hours, including 25 hours of training a week, to achieve short term and long term goals. I will continue high school gymnastics this winter season because I was the captain of the team this past year as well as this upcoming season, but track is my main priority. I wish to compete in college for the team dynamic, and being a part of the school pride and spirit. Most importantly, I have been an athlete all of my life and want to push myself both physically and mentally to be competitive in college and see my potential with more training. I overall want to have more seasons of track and field to be able to achieve my athletic goals and because I enjoy it. Further, I am also dedicated to pushing myself academically, and wish to go to a college where I can value both academics and athletics. I want to major in political science or psychology, and pursue law school and a career in law.
