I am looking forward to continuing my running career in college. Being a part of a cross country team, track team, and swim team has been rewarding in many ways. I have not only learned how to challenge and improve myself physically and mentally the past three years, but I have developed long-lasting friendships . My high school doesn't have a track and our indoor team is 2 years old (our outdoor team has yet to start) so I believe that I have more in me as a runner in seasons I have yet to experience. I’m a well-rounded person and am described by my teachers as well as my friends as being very driven and focused but also a person who is always positive. When being presented with an MVP award, I was described by my running coach as one of the most positive runners he has ever coached, which was an honor to hear because I believe in maintaining a positive attitude as there were times things didn't turn out the way I planned, but I was able push it aside and focus on the next opportunity to apply what I had learned.
I am also a captain of my high school swim, cross country, and track teams. Being a team leader means that you have to assist with organizing work-outs, and helping team mates when they are struggling, I work hard to balance my grades, athletics and family life. My current GPA is above a 4.0 GPA and while I have sports practices or tests to study for, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, or play the piano. Life is about balance - working hard, playing hard and having fun!
