When I started running track in seventh grade at Cocoa High School I knew that self-discipline was going to be needed. As a freshman I received a varsity letter and made it to the state championship. My goals were set exclusively high so in order for me to surpass them I would have to train hard. Being part of the 4by1 relay team for two consecutively years, freshman and sophomore year, making it to state. When we returned my sophomore year, we place third overall in class 2A. As my sophomore year ended, not making it on the podium in the 4by4, I learned from experience that I will not always succeed on my first try. My Sophomore and Junior year of high school we were Cape Coast Conference Runner-Up. This was a huge meet for my teammates and I, therefore I made sure I stepped up and showed leadership and perseverance skills for the new people. At the end of my junior year, I was apart of the 4by4 relay team that made it to state and placed fourth. Our overall time was 3:52 which is eight second faster than her old record. I had the opportunity to run second leg, with a split of 58.7 seconds.
My academic skills in the classroom is amazing, this year I will be graduating with honors and a weighted GPA of 3.6. My class rank is currently 16 out of 223 with a percentile of 91. My education that I learn inside of the classrooms, I use it on the track to help me be successful. Thus far, I know self-discipline and empathy are two pointers that have helped me succeed. I follow all of the rules on and off the track and I help others who may need guidance. When looking for character, self-discipline, empathy, and other leadership ways, I can be a passionate contributor to your team. Lets not forget, I love to score points!
