I like to be challenged, so I hope to run and study at the highest level in college and have set racing and academic goals to accomplish this.
I won’t stop until I achieve my goals. My freshman year, an ischial tuberosity injury pulled me out of most of that track season and affected my performance the following cross country season. I continued to train with the goal of becoming a state champion in mind, and last year I finished 1st in the 800m and 8th in the 400m at IHSA state. I was also a USATF All-American in the 15-16 800m at the USATF Junior Olympics in Sacramento, California over the summer.
I work hard both on the track and in the classroom. I love to learn and my grades are very important to me. I'm especially interested in math and science and involved in extracurriculars in these subjects such as Math Team and Science Olympiad. I’m very competitive, but I respect my competition and encourage my teammates. I try to get them excited for practice and motivate them on our runs.
I understand that track is a learning process. Each time I succeed or fail, I try to learn something from it so I can be better next time. I respect my coaches and appreciate it when they give me feedback, because I can use their criticism to improve myself. I'm hoping that my college experience will help me along this learning process and make me better, both athletically and academically.Event | 2016 Vipers Track C |
