Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Ava Olomajeye and as of August 2023, I am currently a senior at Signature School, which is the #2 in the country, #1 in Indiana, and the #1 charter school. My goal for any university I attend is to go to a school that will launch a fantastic Radiology career. My plan is to major in Biomedical science or Biochemistry, and possibly minor in Political Science or International Relations. I am also interested in becoming a Criminal Lawyer and going along the pre-law path in college. I am a great candidate for your team because I am highly self-motivated, whether it's on the track or in the classroom. Self-motivation is a strong asset because even if you're not the strongest or the smartest in whatever you do if you work hard enough and put in the effort, the work will show. Reflecting on the last 3 or so years, I have learned that I possess this asset. Through taking 12 AP courses so far and  5 IB Classes (1 freshman year and 5 sophomore year and 6 junior year), I have seen the reflection of this work by passing each one with flying colors. The difference that I have from other athletes is that I lack the school facilities to practice. My high school doesn't have any facilities, like a track, gym, or weight room, and when we do run, it is on hard concrete and brick around our school area. While I'm sure it might be beneficial for others, as a sprinter I have had multiple bouts of shin splints, so instead, I took the responsibility to find a summer track program, and a coach in that program to coach me in the offseason. So far, this coaching dynamic has been effective in my track career. Running is in my blood. Both my parents were collegiate athletes, my mom a dancer at University of Kentucky, and my dad a sprinter at University of Cincinnati.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
